Common Questions About Our Clinic

  • What is a surgery specialist?

Drs. Lawrence and Harari are the only board-certified surgeons in private practice in the Inland Northwest. To become a specialist, a veterinarian must obtain 4 years of advanced training, publish scientific papers, and pass a comprehensive 3 day oral and written examination. Additionally, the doctors attend yearly continuing education meetings and subscribe to numerous medical journals to maintain advanced clinical proficiency.

  • What types of surgery are performed?

We perform an average of 3 – 5 surgeries a day classified into orthopedic, soft tissue or neurological procedures. These include knee ligament surgeries, bone fracture repairs, tumor removals, liver procedures, gall bladder procedures, airway improvement, joint dislocations, disc retrieval and gastrointestinal procedures. Our nurses often assist with these surgeries and sometimes the doctors work together on complicated cases. Postoperative, emergency veterinarians and nurses in our building provide continuous care to our patients.

  • Do the surgeons interact with other veterinarians?

Our surgeons regularly consult with radiologists, internists, dermatologists, clinical pathologists and emergency doctors in house to provide comprehensive patient care under one roof. Your regular veterinarian will also be contacted with information regarding your pet and further care if needed.

  • How are fees handled?

Owners are expected to pay 50% of the estimated bill upon admission of the patient and the balance completed at discharge. We accept credit cards (VISA & MC), checks or cash. Clients can also apply for Care Credit financing prior to admission/surgery; if approved, the bank pays VSS for services rendered while our clients establish a payment schedule directly with the bank. Because of our small size and to control overall costs, we do not do billing. Clients and referring veterinarians can receive cost estimates (via phone or email) for incoming cases, prior to admission.
